Mr Segun Ogunsaya, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Airtel Nigeria says the roll-out of its  4th Generation Long-Term Evolution (4G LTE) network offer Nigerians opportunity to get high-speed  Internet services ‘that truly works.’

Ogunsaya said this on Tuesday when the company launched its 4G network in Ibadan, under plans to complement Nigeria’s Broadband Plan to promote nationwide delivery of faster Internet services.

At the Ibadan Civic Center, Ibadan  venue of the launch, Ogunsanaya  promised  that Airtel  network will  deliver an unrivaled user experience for Nigerian Internet subscribers with up to 45Mbps, which he says is the fastest Internet speed available in Nigeria today.

The Airtel MD also told attendees that the new 4G/LTE –Advanced technology is  built on a reliable  spectrum  that will deliver unbeatable and game changer customer experience of high speed Internet access up to 45Mbps ”thus enabling a world of full mobile broadband experiences that will transform both lives and livelihoods.”

“Airtel 4G will help drive growth, spread prosperity and empower the highly enterprising people of Ibadan to fulfill their potentials and realise their dreams”, Ogunsaya told attendees at the  launch  to announce the roll out of Airtel 4G services in Ibadan, the largest city in West Africa.

Official market information by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) puts the telephony connections at 144,631,678 lines and Internet subscribers at 98,391,456  as at December 2017, “a trend that has enabled easier access to the Internet and social media services.

Our commitment is to deliver 4G Service that works to Nigerians as we will dramatically improve mobile Internet experience for telecoms consumers across the country” says the Airtel MD who also explains that commercial services will be available on Airtel  4G/LTE-Advaced network across key site clusters in Ibadan.

To drive forward its growth, the telecoms  company is on an aggressive network expansion drive, which will see it covering all cities in a very short period and ensuring that more Nigerians will have access to Airtel  super fast and super reliable 4th Generation Long-Term Evolution (4G LTE) broadband services, Ogunsayna says.

”Coverage in Lagos will follow along with expanded coverage in Port-Harcourt  and Abuja, and subsequently to other states across multiple geo political zones” Ogunsaya says of the rollout plans

To enjoy Airtel 4G network all you need do is to go to  any Airtel outlet for SIM card  swap, where your SIM will be exchanged with a 4G enabled SIM.

Commending Airtel for the 4G launch, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye,  Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), said Airtel’s upgrade and expansion to a 4G network in Ibadan will definitely improve telecommunications services and drive economic growth.

“NCC is happy to celebrate with Airtel on this milestone and on other efforts aimed at achieving robust and extensive network coverage in Nigeria,” he says.

Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo Deputy Governor of Oyo State commended Airtel for deploying 4G in Ibadan, saying that he is glad that the mobile phone company has chosen Ibadan to pioneer the launch of its revolutionary 4G service.

He asked the people of Oyo state “to use what has been given to us today to empower ourselves and patronize Airtel Nigeria”

Also speaking at the event, Ahmad Mokhles Chief Commercial Officer of Airtel Nigeria,  says the company has simplified the process of connecting to its 4G network just as it is rolling out specific offers that will delight all telecoms consumers regardless of their income level and social status.

According to Mokhles, “to enjoy the Airtel 4G, you can swap your existing Airtel SIM to an Airtel 4G SIM, or purchase an Airtel 4G SIM in any of our retail outlet in Ibadan. Upon swap or purchase, you will instantly begin to enjoy the Airtel 4G experience. And the great part is that Airtel will gift you a 4Gig of data plus an additional 25% data bonus for next three months for plans above N500.

“We are also going the extra-mile to ensure that we deliver 4G experience to every door step in Ibadan as we are currently discussing with our various partners to roll-out affordable devices (MIFI and Smartphones – 4G enabled) to our customers.”

The event featured cultural performances as well as a live demonstration of the Airtel 4G experience.
