President Mohammadu Buhari is scheduled to open the eNigeria Information Technology Conference billed to kick off Tuesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
eNigeria Conference, Exhibition and Award holds at the International Conference Centre, Abuja from 7th to 9th of November, 2017, organisers announced.
Mr Abubakar Malami, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, will be the keynote speaker with the theme; “Fostering Digital Economy through Local Content Development and Effective Regulations”, Mrs. Hadiza Umar, Head, Corporate Affairs & External Relations at National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), announced in a statement made available to Technology Times.
eNigeria is organised by National Information Technology Development Agency(NITDA) in partnership with relevant IT stakeholders from public, private sector as well as non-governmental organisations.
“eNigeria brings together IT experts, solution providers and major stakeholders from both within and outside Nigeria to brainstorm on current and relevant IT issues across the globe with major aim of leveraging on them for sustainable socio-economic development of Nigeria”, according to NITDA.
“It is also a veritable platform for ICT awareness creation, developing appropriate framework and setting goals for best practices in order to enhance appropriate positioning of Nigeria in the global information society”, the organisers of eNigeria said.
At eNigeria, President Buhari will further advance the agenda for local content and sectoral regulations as basis for Nigeria’s entry into the digital economy – the major theme of eNigeria 2017, NITDA said.
The 10th Edition of eNigeria 2017 will promote deliberations on how Nigeria could thicken the value of its policy thrust on local content in pursuit of a national economy that is less dependent on crude oil export.
Other sub-themes that tie up with the main themes are: ‘Roadmap towards national ICT skills framework development; Positioning the nation to harvest value from emerging technologies; Improving the delivery of public services through ICT innovations; Indigenous ICT innovation management for national development; and Demand shaping for local content promotion: entrepreneurial opportunities and regulatory challenges.’
Other speakers at eNigeria include Barrister Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communications, who doubles as Chief Host of the event and Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, Director General of the NITDA, who is the Host and Convener of eNigeria 2017.
Speakers also include the Mr Adekunle Ajiboye, CEO of Ajimantics ltd Canada; Raul Kaidro, CEO, Raul Walter, Estonia; Mr. Basil Udotai, Managing Partner of Technology Advisors; Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu, CEO of InfoGraphics Nigeria and the former Director of the United Nations Foundation’s Information & Communications Technology (ICT), Dr Ime Asangansi, among others.
