Worldwide PC monitor shipments in the first quarter of 2014 declined slightly from 33.8 million units in 2013 to 33.7 million units, representing a 0.4 percent decline, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly PC Monitor Tracker.
IDC expects worldwide shipments to of PC monitor to continue on a declining trend, falling to 106 million units for the full year 2018.
Phuong Hang, Program Director, Worldwide Trackers at IDC says that “despite the overall decline, the shipment totals were stronger than the forecast of 31 million units. Geographically, Japan and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) regions delivered the largest gains during the first quarter while Dell and HP both experienced solid shipment growth.”
Dell led the market with 5 million units shipments, representing 14.9 percent market share. Dell was closely followed by Samsung, with a total shipment of 4 million units representing a market share of 13.2 percent. HP came next with a total of 3.8 million units shipments, representing 11.5 percent market share.
LG shipped 3.5 million units, representing 10.5 percent market share. Lenovo clinched the fifth place with a total shipment of 14 million units, representing a market share of 42 percent.
