The global PC industry statistics released by two major US based technology research companies, IDC and Gartner, for the second quarter of 2014 show that Lenovo is the clear global leader in PCs for the sixth straight quarter.
According to IDC, Lenovo achieved 19.6% global PC market share, which is a 1.9% increase from 17.7% in the first quarter. Lenovo more than doubled its lead on HP, the number 2 player from 0.5 points to 1.3 points. The company grew 15.1%, still the fastest among the top 5 manufacturers, even though the market declined -1.7%.
Gartner reported 19.2% WW share for Lenovo this quarter (1Q 14 by the Gartner calendar) versus 16.7% share last quarter, 1.5 percentage points ahead of number 2. Gartner said Lenovo had the fastest growth among major vendors, with double-digit growth in nearly every region.
