MTN Nigeria expanded its subscriber base by 19.7 per cent in 2013, bringing total subscribers to 56.8 million in the county at the end of December.
The strong growth was driven by improved segmented offerings to customers, better quality network, and was supported by seasonal promotions aimed at boosting subscriber’s numbers and increasing usage, the nation’s leading mobile telephony says.
According to MTN Nigeria announcement today total revenue increased by 5.7 per cent, dampened by interconnect revenue, which declined by 23.0 per cent following a 40 per cent reduction in mobile termination rates at the beginning of the year and a lower effective tariff.
The mobile phone comany says that effective tariff declined by more than 30.0 per cent in the year.
