ZTE9, a joint venture between ZTE Corporation, manufacturers of mobile devices and The9 Limited, a Chinese video game companies, has announced the release of the FunBox, a new home entertainment console.
FunBox brings consumers and families a unique high-performance all-in-one gaming, video-chatting and online video experience the company said.
The FunBox combines the engineering expertise of ZTE and the video game development expertise of The9 to deliver genuine innovation to the consumer electronics industry. Online sales for the FunBox will start on JD.com next month, and consumers can choose between 12 different colors.
According to ZTE, the FunBox is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra4 processor, based on the new A15 architecture, and the graphics performance is delivered by a 72-core GeForce graphics processor with 2GB DDR3L memory and 8GB of flash memory.
According to Adam Zeng, Chairman of ZTE9, “The FunBox has opened up new possibilities in the home entertainment space. The FunBox will be supported by a comprehensive ecosystem that encompasses hardware, content and channels, as we are committed to bringing a high-quality home entertainment experience to consumers.”
The FunBox supports video-chatting, allowing users to conduct video calls on their smart television. With a dual-antenna, dual-frequency Wi-Fi design, and a Bluetooth controller, FunBox offers superior connectivity and robust network performance.
