As a website owner or manager, one thing you have to watch out for is preventing your hosting account and website from being hacked.
Most website security breaches are not to steal your data or deface your website but instead attempts to use your server as an email relay for spam or to set up a temporary web server and usually to serve files of an illegal nature.
There are many things that one should keep in mind to prevent websites from being hacked.
#1.First and foremost, make sure that the computer you’re working on is protected from virus and it’s one you regularly use (and you know what’s been downloaded on it). If you’re on a Mac, you’re better off but not safe. PC users should make sure they have the most up-to-date anti-virus software installed.
#2. Many experts say that hackers today are more clever than ever. Therefore, it is imperative to outsmart them by making frequent password changes. The days of using easy passwords like your company name are over. You should make password for your domain account very hard to guess. You should use long passwords that have letters and numbers. Upper and lower case letters are often advised and even a symbol is a good idea too.
