Fifteen Nigerian tech companies have been named among the 55 African finalists for the inaugural Africa Tech Summit Awards to be presented on February 13 in Nairobi, Kenya.
According to its organisers, the awards recognises businesses making an impact across different technology sectors, with winners to be announced during the Africa Tech Summit.
“We’re delighted to announce the finalists for the inaugural Africa Tech Summit Awards,” Lauren Adair, Director of Africa Tech Summit says in a statement made available to Technology Times. “With over 300 entries, our judges had the tough task of narrowing it down to only 5 finalists in each category. All the finalists are transforming their sectors and driving growth across the continent, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements in Nairobi next month.”

Nigerian companies secured spots in multiple categories. In agritech, AFEX and Winich Farms made the list. AFEX operates a commodities exchange that connects farmers to markets and financing, helping to improve food security and agricultural trade. Winich Farms an inventory organiser and supplier that provides a platform that links farmers directly with offtakers, reducing food waste and improving supply chain efficiency.
The climate tech category features Instollar Technologies and Sabi. Instollar Technologies, a solar energy workforce provider, for solar companies to address Nigeria’s electricity challenges. Sabi is a business-to-business platform that supports informal traders by making it easier to distribute goods and services.
Cross-border payments had strong representation from Nigeria, with Flutterwave, Grey, and WeWire selected. Flutterwave is known for its payment infrastructure that facilitates seamless transactions across African countries. Grey provides foreign bank accounts and currency exchange services, simplifying international transactions. WeWire also focuses on improving cross-border payments with affordable and efficient solutions tailored for the African market.

The edtech category includes Hermplify, a platform that personalises learning experiences through technology. In enterprise solutions, Beacon Power Services and Smile ID are among the finalists. Beacon Power Services focuses on improving electricity distribution in urban areas, while Smile ID provides identity verification services to businesses to enhance security in digital transactions.
In digital commerce, OmniRetail and Sendmercury were named finalists. OmniRetail offers tools that help retailers manage inventory, sales, and customer relationships. Sendmercury specialises in logistics and delivery services allowing businesses reach global markets.

Hermplify also appears in the femtech category, recognised for its contributions to female-focused educational initiatives that encourage women to participate in technology and forge a career path. In health tech, OneHealth and Remedial Health made the list. OneHealth is a digital healthcare platform that connects users with medical services and products, while Remedial Health works to improve the pharmaceutical supply chain to ensure access to quality medicines.
Sabi and Nigeria’s MiniPay are among the finalists in the web3 category, offering blockchain-based payment solutions aimed at expanding financial access.
The Africa Tech Summit Awards will take place as part of the larger Africa Tech Summit, which is expected to bring together more than 2,000 industry leaders and over 1,000 companies. Organisers say the event will provide a platform for networking, collaboration, and investment opportunities.
