NIRA: Minister to open 10th year anniversary celebrations

Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communications, is to declare open a youth empowerment seminar hosted by Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA) as part of activities to mark its tenth anniversary.

Billed for 19th March 2016 at the Muson Centre in Lagos, the seminar will also play host to other key industry stakeholders including Mr Vincent Olatunji, acting Director General of  National Information Technology Development Agency(NITDA), NiRA Board of Trustee (BoT) and Board members.

”The important milestone calls for celebration, and a couple of activities have been lined up in this regard” NIRA pre-event statement made available to Technology Times.

According to NIRA, some of the planned activities for the seminar include:

1) Entrepreneurship workshop (Three speakers); 2) Conferment of .ng Ambassadors (Students and Press); and 3) Launch of .ng Scouts.

Other activities lined up for the anniversary include:

4th March 2016: Africa DNS Forum/ICANN Meeting at Morocco:

NIRA will be participating at the meeting and sponsoring 2 (Two) of its Accredited Registrars (based on registration activities) to mark its 10th year anniversary. The 2 (Two) Registrars have been selected and will be sponsored by NIRA to this meeting in Morocco.

12th March 2016: NIRA Fair Exhibition – NiRA Office Complex, Lagos.

 The upcoming NiRA Fair Exhibition and Showcase of the DNS Industry by NiRA Accredited Registrars, Resellers, Website, Application Developers and some stakeholders.

The NiRA Fair is holding at NiRA Office Complex, 8 Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere, Lagos  at 9am prompt. It is expected that .ng Registration and Hosting will be offered at a promotional rate both online and offline on that day.

The NiRA Fair is expected, amongst other benefits to expose ones business to the participants at the exhibition and provide an avenue to market the .ng domain. Exhibiting at the NiRA Fair is Free and a NiRA Fair magazine will be developed for advert placements for interested participants.

28th March 2016: Social Media Commemorative Activities.

All activities on this day will be online since it is right within the Easter Holiday, and should attract a large patronage.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Oriental Hotel Victoria Island, Lagos and the planned activities for the gala include: NiRA Internet Awards; Conferment of .ng Ambassadors (Nollywood); Social Medial Commemorative Awards and NIRA Presidential Awards.
