The Airtel Africa Foundation has presented the ₦1 billion pledged by the telecoms company to support the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme.
3MTT is a transformative initiative aimed at equipping young Nigerians with essential digital skills for both local and global success.
The presentation ceremony took place in Abuja, where Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, Chairman of the Airtel Africa Foundation, handed over the cheque to Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy.
Dr. Ogunsanya emphasises the importance of the partnership, stating, “this is a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future workforce and prosperity. We’re proud to support a programme that positions our youth as leaders in the digital economy.”
Dr. Tijani expresses his gratitude for the significant support from Airtel, calling the 3MTT programme a cornerstone of Nigeria’s ambitious digital vision. “Today, we received a ₦1 billion grant from the Airtel Africa Foundation for our 3MTT Nigeria programme, aimed at training and empowering over 25,000 Nigerians with in-demand technical skills,” he says. The programme will focus on hands-on training, community engagement, and job placement initiatives, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Minister also highlights how the grant aligns with the broader goal of advancing Nigeria’s digital workforce and positioning the country as a key player in the global technology landscape. “We are grateful to the Airtel Africa Foundation for collaborating with us in our effort to unlock opportunities for young Nigerians and further Nigeria’s digital transformation,” he adds.
