The Federal Government plans to begin placements for tech jobs across Nigeria from May 2 under the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative.

The 3MTT initiative was designed by the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Communication and Digital Economy (FMCIDE) to realise President Bola Tinubu’s goal of creating two million jobs for Nigerian youths.

The Ministry, which said it is gearing up to deploy fellows into tech jobs nationwide starting May 2, had originally designed the 3MTT to empower youths with skills for the tech sector demands said the programme has evolved.

Following the completion of training for cohort 1, the Ministry led by Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, now plans to place both cohorts 1, 2 and 3 in jobs.

The job placement as outlined by the Ministry and the 3MTT team, will span 12 months, with monthly stipends of N100,000. After the internship period, the host organisation may choose to retain these Fellows or not, according to the Ministry.

While cohort 1 is expected to commence work immediately, cohorts 2 and 3 Fellows will combine training with work after agreements with host organisations. Attendance records for both work and training are emphasised for stipend disbursement and job continuation.

Fellows, whose exact number remains undisclosed, will commence work on May 2, 2024 either remotely, in a hybrid model or onsite, depending on the host organisation’s preference.
