Only 4G LTE can deliver quality Internet service that can deliver connectivity and speed to users Nigeria, Tom Allen, COO of Smile Communications, a new entrant player in the ISP market, has said.

Long Term Evolution, commonly marketed as 4G LTE, is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and computers that uses the the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA network technologies.

The delivery of broadband has in recent time being a key plan of the Nigerian government and the Smile COO insists that its only 4G LTE roll out that can complement ongoing efforts at deepening broadband penetration in Nigeria.

Tom told the Com World Series team in an interview that capacity and lack of infrastructure are major impediments on the way to delivering high-speed connectivity in Nigeria.

”Capacity is an issue, manifested by poor quality quality of service. With the lack of fixed infrastructure then only 4G LTE services can provide the quality and capacity needed”, he said.

He believes  the roll-out of  4G LTE  technology by Smile would further enhance more demanding applications like interactive TV, mobile video blogging, advanced games or professional services and enable more Nigerians to be on top of their game and thereby rule their world.

”The wave is just starting, capacity is self limiting these. Smile will bring these to life with much better quality and speeds. Simple  Over-the-top content (OTT) offerings will start to emerge and will dominate”, the Smile COO added.
