Abia State Government wants to partner with Indonesian Government to adopt technologies that will automate the Aba shoe-making business.
Mr. Okezie Ikpeazu, Governor of Abia State told this to the Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Harry Purwanto when he paid a courtesy visit to the Government House, Umuahia.
According to him, Aba shoe makers can produce shoes that can compete favorably with those made elsewhere.
He also used the opportunity to solicit for urgent Federal Government assistance, especially in the area of power supply to develop the Abia economy.
Speaking earlier, the Indonesian Ambassador, Harry Purwanto said that his country and Nigeria share a lot in common, including natural endowments, stressing that this is the time to harness the potentials for development.
The envoy thanked the Governor for encouraging small and medium scale industries to thrive, informing him that he was in Abia to look at the potentials of the State and to see how to contribute to the Abia State economy.
