The selection of Nigeria’s next Accountant-General of the Federation has entered its final stage with five candidates advancing to the oral interview after passing the ICT proficiency test.
Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Head of Civil Service of the Federation, who disclosed this expressed her satisfaction with the outcome of the ICT proficiency test that was conducted on a “merit-based platform” to ensure that only the most qualified candidates advanced.
According to her, “this process underscores our commitment to upholding accountability, equity, and excellence in public service appointments.”
The oral interview which took place on Friday, February 14, 2025, she adds, will assess the candidates’ leadership skills and strategic vision for managing the office of the Accountant-General.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation praised the rigorous and transparent process, emphasising the importance of merit in the selection.
“I am pleased with the progress we have made and confident that the oral interview will help us identify the best candidate for this critical role,” Walson-Jack says.
In addition to the Accountant-General selection, an oral interview will also be held on the same day for seven Permanent Secretaries that previously qualified.
