International Data Corporation (IDC) has announced the appointment of Bola Adisa as Country Manager for the West Africa office of the leading technology market research company.

[blockquote right=”pull-right” cite=”Bola Adisa, the new Country Manager for the Lagos-based West African hub of IDC”]”The cumulative impact of these developments will serve as a catalyst for Nigeria accomplishing its stated aim of becoming one of the top 20 economies in the world by the year 2020. My role as country manager for IDC West Africa gives me the opportunity to take responsibility for ensuring these IDC predictions become reality, thereby providing a beneficial legacy for all the economies of the West Africa region.” [/blockquote]

He will be responsible for tapping into the burgeoning opportunities currently presenting themselves across the region, the company announced in a statement.

His appointment forms part of an extensive strategic initiative aimed at growing the IDC business in Nigeria and Ghana, and enhancing the market intelligence firm’s presence throughout the rest of Africa.

“The Nigerian market is currently undergoing a period of transformation that is characterized by the growing influence of ‘3rd Platform’ technologies,” Adisa says.

“As widely predicted by IDC, the transition to the ‘3rd Platform’ represents an innovation-driven shift from the IT industry that is built on the four technology pillars of cloud, mobile, Big Data, and social applications. And the recent happenings in the market all suggest that these pillars are effectively building up the IT space in Nigeria”, he adds.

“It is expected that more investments will be made in the country’s IT sector to further boost seamless activities such as cashless payments, online transactions, and data capturing,” adds Adisa. “The cumulative impact of these developments will serve as a catalyst for Nigeria accomplishing its stated aim of becoming one of the top 20 economies in the world by the year 2020. My role as country manager for IDC West Africa gives me the opportunity to take responsibility for ensuring these IDC predictions become reality, thereby providing a beneficial legacy for all the economies of the West Africa region.”

Bola Adisa has more than 14 years of professional experience in various capacities, having previously excelled in the areas of business solutions management, product management, pre-sales consultancy, business development, business requirement analysis, and network engineering.
