Airtel Nigeria says it expects incredible performance from Dinesh Balsingh who resumes as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the number two mobile network operator (MNO) in the country.
“We are honoured to have Dinesh on board and cannot wait to see the incredible impact he will make as the captain of our team. Join us in welcoming Mr. Dinesh Balsingh back to the Airtel Nigeria family!”, the MNO says in a statement announcing the successor to Carl Cruz, the company’s former CEO.
This is the second coming of the new Airtel Nigeria CEO, who has “a 24-year track record of impressive success in the telecommunications industry.”

According to the MNO, ““This is Dinesh’s second time in Nigeria, having occupied the role of Chief Commercial Officer from 2018 to 2021. His expertise in driving growth, innovation, and customer satisfaction will undoubtedly propel Airtel Nigeria to future accomplishments for subscribers and the larger society.”
Following the resignation of Carl Raymond R. Cruz, who is returning to the Philippines after being appointed as Deputy CEO of Globe Telecom by Ernest Cu, Globe President and CEO, effective January 1, 2025, Balsingh assumes the role of CEO and will be expected to make a significant impact in the telecoms industry.
Airtel expressed great excitement in announcing the appointment of Dinesh Balsingh as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, stating that, ‘We are tremendously excited to announce the appointment of Dinesh Balsingh as our new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.”
Balsingh’s career in the telecoms industry began in 2000 with Hutchison Essar, followed by roles at Airtel India as Marketing Director in 2006 and Tata Docomo in 2011. He joined Airtel Nigeria as Marketing Director in 2013 and later assumed the position of Chief Commercial Officer in 2018.
According to Airtel Nigeria, as CEO, Carl Cruz, Dinesh Balsingh’s predecessor, “left an indelible mark, not only on the business but also on every one of us who had the privilege to work with him.”
