The Akwa Ibom State Government has commenced data collection and computation for the State Gross Domestic Product (SGDP), a move aimed at generating reliable economic data to support effective policymaking and development planning.
The data collection exercise, which runs from March 26 to April 18 2025, is being conducted by the Akwa Ibom State Bureau of Statistics (AKSBS), in collaboration with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) under the Fiscal Governance and Institution Project (FGIP).

Aniekan Umanah, Commissioner for Information, says in a statement seen by Technology Times, that the state government wants all stakeholders to participate actively in the exercise. “All businesses, manufacturers, and members of the public are encouraged to cooperate with enumerators by providing accurate responses during data collection.”
Governor Umo Eno reaffirms his administration’s commitment to data-driven governance, highlighting the importance of the initiative. “Together, we can drive the state’s economic growth with robust SGDP statistics,” he adds.
The Akwa Ibom State Government assures that all information collected would be handled professionally and used strictly for economic planning purposes.
