The Nigerian government says it has selected Ali Nuhu, film director and actor to become the face of telecoms consumers in the country.
The Nigerian Communications Commission, which announced the deal with the Nollywood figure says it is part of activities to support the declaration of 2017 as Year of The Telecoms Consumer.
“In giving concrete expression to the declaration of 2017 as Year of The Telecom Consumer, NCC has lined up series of activities, which will be flagged off on March 15, 2017 at the Commission’s Head Office by Honourable Adebayo Shittu, Minister for Communications”, according to the government agency.
According to the telecoms regulator, “March 15, 2017, coincidentally Nuhu’s birthday is also the World Consumer Right’s Day. Nuhu’s engagement by NCC in a non-exclusive contract as the Face of the Telecom Consumer is thus fortuitous and historic.”
In his new role, Nuhu an actor, screenwriter, film director – who has produced and directed at least 20 movies and featured in over a hundred Nollywood and Kannywood movies, will complement consumer awareness campaigns by NCC.
“By this engagement, Nuhu will feature in handbills, flyers, banners, posters, TV appearances, radio jingles, as well as on memorabilia and other iconography materials designed by the Commission for its series of activities scheduled to sensitize and celebrate the telecom consumers as the most central stakeholders of the telecommunications industry in Nigeria” NCC says.
