The Apple iPad Pro released in April, and available in the new 11-inch and 12.9-inch versions, offers the most powerful and advanced features packed into one device, thanks to the M1 chip, according to its maker.

The M1 chip that powers the Apple iPad Pro delivers a massive leap in performance that has made it a faster device. In the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is a new Liquid Retina XDR display that brings dynamic range to the device by offering the user a stunning visual experience with more true-to-life details to the most demanding HDR workflows.

The iPad Pro features cellular models with 5G to deliver even faster wireless connectivity when on the go, and provides Thunderbolt support for high-speed accessories.

Another great feature is an all-new Ultra Wide front camera which enables Centre Stage, a new feature that automatically keeps users perfectly framed for video calls.

Another great feature of the iPad Pro is an all-new Ultra Wide front camera which enables Centre Stage, a new feature that automatically keeps users perfectly framed for video calls.

M1 in to iPad Pro

The M1 chip which Apple sees as a groundbreaking achievement takes the industry-leading performance of iPad Pro to an entirely new level. The 8-core CPU design features the world’s fastest CPU cores in low-power silicon — delivering up to 50 percent faster CPU performance than A12Z Bionic.

The M1 has an 8‑core GPU which provides up to 40 percent faster graphics performance to iPad Pro. So you can build intricate AR models, play games with console‑quality graphics at high frame rates, and more. The iPad Pro also features a unified, high-bandwidth memory architecture with up to 16GB of memory, two times faster storage, and up to 2TB capacity on the device.

iPad Pro Camera

The iPad Pro comes with 12mp wide camera and a 10mp ultra-wide camera. Wide and Ultra Wide cameras help you capture the perfect photo or video, or even set up a multicamera filmmaking rig. And with the more powerful ISP in the M1 chip, iPad Pro now features Smart HDR 3.

The Liquid Retina XDR display delivers detail with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, great for viewing and editing HDR photos and videos or enjoying your favourite movies and TV shows. It also features a 1000 nits of full‑screen brightness and 1600 nits of peak brightness. Also, you find onboard advanced display technologies like P3 wide colour, True Tone, and ProMotion.

With 5G capabilities, iPad Pro allows users to connect to the fastest wireless networks when they need to download files, stream movies, collaborate with colleagues, and upload content on the go.

Thunderbolt in iPad Pro

The USB-C port on iPad Pro is the fastest because of the support for Thunderbolt and USB 4, which is ranked as the most versatile port ever on an iPad offering four times more bandwidth for wired connections than the previous iPad Pro — up to 40Gbps.

Thunderbolt supports 10Gbps Ethernet and opens up a massive ecosystem of high-performance accessories, like faster external storage and even higher resolution external displays, including the Pro Display XDR at full 6K resolution.

The Center Stage experience for video calls on iPad Pro

The TrueDepth camera system on iPad Pro features an all-new 12MP Ultra Wide front camera designed specifically for iPad, enabling Centre Stage, a new experience for video calls.

Centre Stage uses the much larger field of view on the new front camera and the machine learning capabilities of M1 to recognise and keep users centred in the frame. As users move around, Centre Stage automatically pans to keep them in the shot.

Battery

iPad Pro 12.9-inch features a built-in 40.88-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery with up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi-Fi or watching video, and can be charged via power adapter or USB-C to computer system.

Operating system

The new iPad Pro runs on iPadOS 14 which is built on the same powerful foundation as iOS that lets users multitask effortlessly with touch or navigate the system with a trackpad.

Pricing and Availability

The new iPad Pro is available to order on Apple website and in the Apple Store app in 31 countries and regions. The new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be available in silver and space grey finishes.

According to Apple, iPad Pro is available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB configurations. The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799 for the Wi-Fi model and $999 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model, and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro starts at $1,099 for the Wi-Fi model and $1,299 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model.
