Apple says in a statement that Android customers can download the Apple TV app to subscribe to Apple TV+ which offers a seven-day free trial, and MLS Season Pass using their Google Play account.

The app features tools like “Continue Watching” to pick up shows where you left off and a “Watchlist” for keeping track of what you want to see next. It streams content over Wi-Fi or cellular connections and lets you download shows and movies to watch offline.

The move to make the Apple TV app available on Android marks a key step in Apple’s efforts to reach a broader audience in an increasingly competitive streaming market, and also compete with established streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, among others.

Launched on November 1, 2019, Apple TV+ “became the first all-original streaming service to launch around the world, and has premiered more original hits and received more award recognitions faster than any other streaming service in its debut,” according to Apple.

To date, Apple Original films, documentaries, and series have earned “538 wins and 2,553 award nominations and counting,” including the Emmy-winning comedy “Ted Lasso” and Oscar Best Picture winner “CODA,” according to the technology company.
