The Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) has announced that its new executives will be elected at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) billed for May 13, this year in Lagos.
The AGM will also feature elections into the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Association. The outcome of the elections will see new executives assume their duty post immediately when results are announced, the telecoms industry association also said.
According to ATCON, the floor is now open to 13 key offices including the post of the president which Lanre Ajayi, the incumbent President and CEO of Pinet Nigeria Limited, is eligible to recontest if he so desires.
Other offices open for the election are office of 1st Vice President, 2ndVice President, General Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Financial Secretary and Treasurer, Sub-Group Coordinators for Telephone Operators, Infrastructure Providers, Internet Services Providers, Equipment Dealers,Manufacturers and Consulting.
ATCON was formally inaugurated on December 10, 1993 as the apex telecoms industry association in Nigeria to provide a platform for cross-pollination of industry ideas amongst private participants in the deregulated telecommunications sector in Nigeria.
The association has been the central voice of the Nigerian telecommunications sector by helping to shape policies and regulations that affect the industry.
