Lagos. November 18, 2013: The Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) has announced the 2013 edition of Nigeria’s Telecoms Executives and Regulator’s Forum.
The event is slated for Thursday, November 28, 2013 will hold at the Golden Gate Restaurants, Ikoyi, Lagos, according to the telecoms trade group.[blockquote right=”pull-right” cite=”-Lanre Ajayi, President, ATCON”] ATCON said that the forum, which is open to all operators in the telecoms sector in Nigeria, is designed to create an opportunity for key industry players to interact with the regulator, with the aim of building a continual good working relationship.[/blockquote]
Lanre Ajayi, President of ATCON, said that, “the 2012 edition of the event was very exciting and a huge success as confirmed by the feedback we got from attendees, we are confident that the 2013 edition will even be better.”
Eugene Juwah, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), will present a keynote address which will cover the following topical issues: Effectiveness of Number Portability Scheme; Broadband – The Journey so far; Migration from Analogue to Digital Broadcasting: Implications for Telecoms; Lawful Interception Issue and Quality of Service issue.
ATCON said that the forum, which is open to all operators in the telecoms sector in Nigeria, is designed to create an opportunity for key industry players to interact with the regulator, with the aim of building a continual good working relationship.
It is also aimed at creating a platform for the regulator to update the industry on the regulator’s directions and plans for the industry in the coming years, Ajayi added.
According to him, the forum would also serve as a veritable platform for the regulator to receive feedback from the industry with a view to understanding the challenges the industry players have to grapple with while growing the industry.
The forum includes panel discussion sessions to allow elaborate and judicious deliberations on various sub-themes.
Some of the confirmed panelists include the CEOs of key telecoms companies in Nigeria. Delegates to the forum consist of decision makers in the participating organizations, which ensure that issues are discussed with seriousness of purpose.
ATCON is the umbrella organization of all telecoms companies operating in Nigeria. It is the apex telecom industry association providing a central voice for the telecoms sector in Nigeria.
Since its official inauguration in December 1993, ATCON has been in the forefront of advocacies for the rapid development and accelerated expansion of telecoms in Nigeria.
