Atobatele: Online funding platform SpeakForUs ‘timed for 2015 General Elections’
Mr Ade Atobatele, CEO of Gboza Gbosa Technology Limited, has said that the launch of SpeaksForUs, an online platform for politicians to raise funds from their supporters has been specially timed for the impending 2015 General Elections season.
It is also a season of launches at the Nigerian technology company which this month announced the debut of Stomachinfrastructure.com, an online media platform that “takes a satirical look at the political life in Nigeria using blogs and multimedia and backing them with social newsfeeds and statistics”, according to Atobatele.[su_quote cite=”Mr Ade Atobatele, CEO of Gboza Gbosa Technology Limited”]All the goods in the SpeaksForUs shop are locally sourced, thereby providing trade to local businesses employing local people. The SpeaksForUs online platform provides social campaigners with the ability to raise funds for their cause using targeted crowdsourced ecommerce, Atobatele said at the Lagos launch of the website that had in attendance politicians from across the divide, the media and the general public.
The SpeaksForUs model aims to use targeted crowdsourced e-Commerce to allow campaigners to create wishlists of goods such as branded merchandise like t-shirts, posters, face caps, and mugs that they can use to run the campaign.
According to him, “these wishlists are then sent to their sponsors and supporters, so that they can financially support the campaign, by purchasing goods and services from the list for the campaigner, while knowing exactly how their financial support was used.”
Beyond politics, SpeaksForUs will let organisations or individual campaigners without an Internet presence, to also leverage free social media platforms on the websites.
These social platforms provide online tools to allow full engagement in advocacy issues, he said.
“All the goods in the SpeaksForUs shop are locally sourced, thereby providing trade to local businesses employing local people. Local businesses can sign up to become vendors, using the online registration process that takes just a few minutes”, Atobatele said to politicians who have started seeing the opportunities offered by the platform.
“This is necessary for times like this…Giving equal opportunities to every party to reach the public” – Biola Agbaje, the wife of the Lagos state gubernatorial aspirant, Jimi Agbaje, who was at the launch.
Also, Bisi Alaka currently running for senate in Oyo central under Accord party, was so impressed with SpeaksForUs that he immediately signed on, the company said.
The SpeaksForUs platform by Gboza Gbosa Technology Limited comes just as it also launched Emphaton and Stomach Infrastructure.
Stomach infrastructure.com was also well-timed for the election season to offer an online media platform that takes a satirical look at the political life in Nigeria using blogs and multimedia and backing them with social newsfeeds and statistics, Atobatele said.
“The comics culled from various local attributable magazines world for a light hearted introduction to the platform, blogs are penned by various political writers in and out of the country.
The insights, covering the presidency, gubernatorial, senate, house and state assemblies, are made up of related twitter statistics, social newsfeeds, real time news, and polls”, he said.
During live events Stomach Infrastructure will use hashtags to track real life events of politicians like Akinwunmi Ambode, Jimi Agbaje, Gen. Buhari, Jonathan Goodluck, and many others, according to its creator.
Atobatele hopes that the stomach infrastructure platform would educate and keep the public informed about the Nigerian political process starting with the 2015 elections, in a lighthearted but verifiable way.
Gboza Gbosa Technology Limited is a technology startup incubated at IdeaHub and Cc-HUB. Its upcoming portfolio of B2B and consumer based e-commerce sites, position it to become Nigeria’s first E-commerce Service Provider (ESP), according to Atobatele.
