Blackberry Limited, a global leader in mobile communications, has reported that the monthly active BBM users is now 91 million, representing an increase of 6 million over the 85 million users in the previous three month period.

The surge in the number of BBM users might not be unconnected with the recent launch of BBM on Windows Phone, which now enables Windows Phone users to download and use the BBM app, the company reported in its financial results for the three months ended August 30, 2014,

Blackberry also reported that approximately 2.4 million BlackBerry smartphones were sold through to end customers during the period.
