The Bauchi State Bureau for Information and Communication Technology and Digital Economy ((BICT) says it is participating in the Bauchi State EduTech programme hoped to transform education in the state.
According to BICT, the EduTech programme is an initiative of the Zee Tech Foundation, a startup focused on promoting digital literacy in underserved areas, aimed at equipping teachers with the digital skills needed to enhance the education sector.
“Through this engagement, BICT aims to ensure that educators are empowered with the tools to bridge the digital gap and foster an environment conducive to digital learning,” the BICT says, emphasising the significance of its collaboration with the Zee Tech foundation.
During the programme, according to BICT, teachers received hands-on training, resources, and insights necessary for integrating technology into their classrooms. This will help ensure that the teachers stay at the forefront of educational advancement.
The Bureau also emphasised that it recognised the essence of technology in modern education, stating that by supporting the programme, it is fulfilling “part of its commitment to digital transformation and human capital development within Bauchi State.”
Yunusa Ibrahim, the representative of BICT at the programme, said that the bureau is dedicated to “fostering a tech-enabled educational landscape, aligning with its strategic goals of human capital development and digital transformation.”
While the EduTech programme provided teachers with the skills needed to integrate technology into their work, it also underscored the bureau’s responsibility and commitment to strengthening the educational framework within the state through technology, according to the agency, which said that the commitment is demonstrated by its collaboration with the Zee Tech Foundation.
Founded in 2020, the Zee Tech Foundation is a youth-focused NGO dedicated to promoting digital literacy in urban and underserved rural communities across Nigeria. Over the years, according to its promoters, the foundation has supported ICT for learning, development, and creating an inclusive economy.
Identifying ICT as a key to human development, the foundation said it has supported the spread of digital literacy in underserved areas with its work, focusing on policy advocacy and research across STEM Education, Mentorship, and Entrepreneurship/Innovation.
