The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) have announced a partnership to launch BuyNigeria.ng, a local e-commerce platform hoped to bring Nigerian businesses to the internet community.



The announcement was made in a joint statement issued by Dr. Dennis Olofu, Head of Media at NCAC, and Mrs. Hadiza Umar, Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations at NITDA, who say that the buynigeria.ng platform aims to boost the online visibility and accessibility of Nigerian traders and artisans.
“Both agencies have agreed in Abuja to establish collaborative framework. This strategic to pilot BuyNigeria.ng, an e-commerce platform alliance seeks to harness the strengths of both agencies to designed to bring Nigerian markets online. The initial drive growth, innovation, and digital transformation across phase will focus on markets in Kano, Lagos, Aba, and Nigeria’s creative and cultural sectors,” according to the statement.
Key Highlights of the Partnership
ICE Capacity-Building Program:
NCAC: Lead the expansion of the Innovate, Create, Empower (ICE) programme, which will train 2 million Nigerians across 1,000 locations nationwide by 2027.
NITDA: Provide digital infrastructure, such as training facilities and digital labs, to support the scaling of the programme.
Development of Digital Platforms:
NCAC: Partner with private-sector stakeholders to create digital platforms for cultural inventory, fan engagement, influencer marketing, and e-commerce.
NITDA: Support these platforms by providing cloud services and local distribution networks to ensure wider accessibility.
Equipping NCAC Facilities:
NITDA: Supply NCAC’s headquarters and zonal offices with digital tools, including computers, tablets, podcast studios, and digital labs.
NCAC: Ensure the effective use of these digital tools to enhance operations within the cultural and creative sectors.
Collaboration on Major Events:
NCAC: Mobilise the creative and cultural communities to participate in NITDA-led events, such as GITEX Nigeria 2025.
NITDA: Provide the technical expertise, resources, and infrastructure needed for the successful execution of these events.
Integration of Digital Literacy in Nigeria’s Got Talent:
NCAC: Incorporate NITDA’s digital literacy programmes into Nigeria’s Got Talent to empower participants with the necessary digital skills.
NITDA: Provide gamified learning systems and digital platforms to integrate into the talent show, enhancing the experience for both participants and audiences.
Joint Committee for Execution:
Both Agencies: Form a joint committee to oversee and ensure the smooth execution of the partnership’s initiatives.
This partnership is set to integrate Nigeria’s cultural heritage with the digital economy, fostering innovation, growth, and empowerment within the country’s creative industries, both agencies say.
