The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) said it is embracing artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to improve registration of businesses in Nigeria.

The Nigerian agency responsible for company registrations said it is collaborating with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) to leverage AI to strengthen its operational efficiency and drive seamless business registration.

Ishaq Magaji SAN, CAC Registrar-General and CEO, who disclosed this when he met with Khalil Sulaiman, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, said that both government agencies are exploring avenues for integrating AI technology into CAC’s operations.

Magaji, who highlighted the substantial progress made in CAC’s Registration Portal since assuming office in October 2023, said it is imperative to sustain this momentum through the adoption of cutting-edge AI solutions to expedite company registrations in Nigeria in line with global standards.

According Magaji, “the Commission’s desire to explore artificial intelligence to register companies within minutes in line with global best practices was only achievable through partnerships.”

While responding Sulaiman outlined NASENI’s ongoing initiatives, including the development of an AI-powered energy solution to power the entire NASENI building, with potential extension to support CAC’s operations.

He underscored the need to combat the exploitation of government agencies by private technology firms, pledging to establish NASENI Technology Services to furnish cost-effective and sustainable AI solutions.

Engr. Bernard Omeiza, Director of Technology Business Development at NASENI, provided insights into the agency’s recent achievements, including the forthcoming launch of eight new AI-driven products and its prominence in the solar panel market.

Bashiru Aliyu, ICT Special Adviser to NASENI’s CEO, said the agency’s is collaborating with NITDA, the National Centre for AI Robotics, and the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy to fortify Nigeria’s AI capabilities.

During the visit, the CAC boss was given a comprehensive tour of the upcoming NASENI Technology Hub, underscoring the potential for innovation and collaboration between the two entities in harnessing AI technology to drive operational enhancement and technological advancement.
