Chinese energy company CCETC has announced plans to invest in Ogun State’s power infrastructure, including the development of a dedicated state transmission network, a power generation plant, and an industrial park to support the state’s growing industrial and economic base.
The announcement follows Governor Dapo Abiodun’s recent investment drive to China, where he met with leading investors across sectors such as technology, energy, and manufacturing.
During a meeting with the Governor at the Government House in Abeokuta, Mr. Guo Xianda, Chairman of CCETC, outlined the company’s commitment to deepening its investment in Ogun State’s energy sector.

“The company, based in Jiangsu, China, already has a substantial investment footprint in Nigeria and across Africa,” Xianda said. “We currently have over 250MW operational capacity in Nigeria and aim to expand our footprint across Africa, with more than 5,000MW available for distribution.”
He further pledged that CCETC would install a 3MW power plant at the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport, free of charge, to support economic activities and boost development in the area.
Governor Abiodun commended the company’s proposal, describing it as a significant milestone in the state’s effort to achieve reliable and sustainable power supply.
“The company will strategically focus on three fundamental areas of intervention — strengthening power generation and distribution within the state, investing in the state’s transmission network, and establishing an industrial park that will attract more Chinese manufacturers while integrating power projects,” the Governor said.
He added that the meeting also highlighted CCETC’s readiness to provide funding, technical capacity, and swift execution to deliver key power projects for Ogun State.
As part of follow-up engagements, Governor Abiodun is scheduled to lead the CCETC delegation on an inspection tour of ongoing power and distribution infrastructure projects being executed by Sahara Group and Powergen, as part of the state’s broader efforts to secure a stable and efficient energy supply network.
