Clickatell, a provider of mobile messaging solutions, says it is helping businesses connect, interact and transact through innovative chat channels.
But why is Clickatell focused on chats?
The company’s focus on chat communication is supported by findings from its internal study, which reveals that 86% of people prefer to communicate via text messaging or chat.
Clickatell survey: 86% of people prefer text messaging or chat
The study also shows that it goes beyond simple day-to-day conversations with family or friends. it extends to using chats for businesses, making payments, running promotions and responding to surveys. About 89% of people prefer to run their businesses via chat, Clickatell says.
As Clickatell highlights, businesses rely on WhatsApp Application Programming Interface (API) to process these interactions. An API is a set of tools that allows different software applications to communicate with each other. For instance, a business can send and receive messages from its software system without needing the WhatsApp app, thereby making automated responses and effective communication possible.
WhatsApp, with over 2.7 billion users globally, makes its API a tool business owners can rely on. However, like other communication devices, it tends to come with some communication risks that include unauthorised access, message interception and other vulnerabilities.
According to Clickatell’s Trend Report, about 64% of chat app users are unsure of the security and confidentiality these chat apps offer. To control these risks, Clickatell recommends that businesses partner with mobile messaging solutions provider like it to leverage WhatsApp API, which can enhance business relations with their customers security.
On the benefits of APIs, Clickatell explains that WhatsApp has ensured that its users’ chats are secured with end-to-end encryption that helps businesses protect their customers’ information by ensuring that only the sender and recipient can read them.
“The standout feature is end-to-end encryption (E2EE), which means messages are encrypted…This ensures that no third party, not even WhatsApp, can access the content of the messages,” Clickatell says.
Moreover, businesses are encouraged to implement their own data privacy and protection measures to avoid any breach from a third party, such as the one that occurred in 2019 when Spyware exploited the Whatsapp app.
“Breaches like this can have serious consequences for both businesses and customers,” according to Clickatell.
“For businesses,” Clickatell explains, “it could mean financial losses, legal troubles, and a damaged reputation.” It went on to state that “For users, it might result in privacy violations and identity theft.”
