Cloud Network Foundation (CNF), a non-governmental organisation of veteran telecoms and ICT media practitioners, has set the agenda for the new board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
In a statement issued today by Mr Abimbola Tooki, Chairman of CNF, the group commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for selecting “individuals of proven competence and vast experience” to steer Nigeria’s communications regulator.
The CNF Chairman also welcomes the appointment of Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the board of the Nigerian telecoms industry regulator.

According to Mr Tooki, the Foundation wants the new NCC Board to prioritise key areas including expansion of the digital economy, enhanced regulatory efficiency, extension of services to underserved communities, and strengthening of network security.
According to CNF, Mr. Olorunnimbe’s entrepreneurial and administrative pedigree positions him to provide strategic leadership that will advance growth and innovation in the telecoms sector, in line with the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to Mr Tooki, the Foundation wants the new NCC Board to prioritise key areas including expansion of the digital economy, enhanced regulatory efficiency, extension of services to underserved communities, and strengthening of network security.
He says that Olorunnimbe and the NCC Board should accord priority to:
– Digital Economy Growth: Expanding Nigeria’s digital ecosystem and promoting innovation
– Regulatory Efficiency: Enhancing the commission’s regulatory work to support the communications industry
– Universal Access: Collaborating with stakeholders to extend communications services to underserved areas
– Network Security: Ensuring the protection of telecom infrastructure and promoting internet resilience
“As men and women of in-depth understanding and passion for the industry, we acknowledge your pedigree as a discerning stakeholder,” CNF said in its statement, noting that Olorunnimbe’s leadership is expected to bolster the sector’s role as a “money spinner, content and job creator for the teeming youths and masses.”
“For the benefit of doubt,” Mr Tooki says, “Cloud Network Foundation (CNF), is a registered non government organization devoted to the growth, development and emergence of Telecommunications and ICT as the chief driver of the nation’s economy. It is a convergence of ICT Mediapreneur. These are noble men and women who are the veteran practitioners in the Telecoms and ICT space across the print and broadcast/online platforms.”
The CNF reaffirms its commitment to collaborate with the NCC and other stakeholders to drive the sustainable growth and development of Nigeria’s telecoms and ICT sector.
