Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has announced that drones are being deployed to monitor the state’s boundaries more effectively.
The decision to use drones is part of the government’s efforts to protect the state’s territorial integrity and address security concerns along its borders, says Governor Otu, who announced the plan at a meeting of the State Elders’ Forum.

“We are not surrendering an inch of our land to anyone. Cross Riverians are peaceful and loving people, but our kindness must not be mistaken for weakness,” Governor Otu says.
The Governor says the drones would play a key role in ensuring the state’s boundaries are secure. This, he said, is part of a broader strategy to tackle and safeguard the state’s territorial boundaries and tackle pressing challenges of insecurity, infrastructure development, with a view to enhancing economic growth.
Governor Otu also plans to equip citizens with skills tailored for the emerging economy. He assures the elders that his government is laying the groundwork for a prosperous future for all.
“We are working tirelessly to deliver on our promises. Patience is essential, but rest assured, we are committed to achieving our vision for the state,” he says while also assuring residents that his administration is working to address pressing issues such as herdsmen clashes, illegal mining, and infrastructure development.
