Nezo, the popular crypto platform and 35 organisations in the cryptocurrency industry have launched a campaign seeking for an official Bitcoin emoji.
This followed the launching of the “Bitcoin Deserves an Emoji” initiative on April 2, aimed at obtaining 50,000 global endorsements, according to the campaign promoters
The petition which was directed to the Unicode Consortium, saddled with the responsibility for emoji standardisation, has within a week of debut has gathered over 10,000 signatures. Moreso, companies such as Brink, Bitget, Chainalysis, Kraken, Polygon, Brave, and BTC Inc. fully supports the move.

“With 1.26 billion total bitcoin addresses and 190,000+ professionals and tech pioneers pushing the global community forward, the bitcoin emoji is long overdue”, according to Kosta Kantchev, co-founder and executive chairman of Nexo.
“With 1.26 billion total bitcoin addresses and 190,000+ professionals and tech pioneers pushing the global community forward, the bitcoin emoji is long overdue”, according to Kosta Kantchev, co-founder and executive chairman of Nexo.
He said that the influence and wide-range Bitcoin has brought into the financial world thereby deserves to have a dedicated symbol on computer keyboards, just like other widely-recognised currencies such as the dollar sign or the euro sign.
Eleanor Genova, head of communications at Nexo, said that pushing for a Bitcoin emoji transcends mere symbolism; it underscores the unity and steadfast determination of the crypto community to advance the global adoption of Bitcoin.
In her words “Emojis, today’s digital lingua franca, play a critical role in how we communicate emotions, intentions, and concepts. For Bitcoin… an emoji would not only symbolise its legitimacy but also serve as an essential tool for education and mainstream acceptance.”
However, the community is said to be getting ready for the cryptocurrency’s fourth halving event, which is anticipated to happen later this month.
