Etisalat Nigeria has received ‘Best Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative’ award from the Commonwealth Telecommunication Union (CTO).
The award was presented to the mobile phone company at the first Commonwealth ICT & Industry Awards that took place in London.
Also awarded was the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) for ‘Best Universal Access Initiative.’
Barirster Adebayo Shittu, Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, who was also at the event presented the award to Martin Mokgware, Acting Deputy Chief Executive (Operations and Strategy) BOCRA.
The Commonwealth ICT & Industry Awards aim at recognizing major achievements by Member Countries and Sector Members in ICTs, and share knowledge amongst the Commonwealth ICT sector stakeholder community, according to the telecoms body.
Other awards went to the National Communications Authority of Ghana (Best ICT Policy and Regulatory Initiative), and Courteville Business Solutions (Best ICT Application).
The Commonwealth ICT & Industry Awards took place just before the Commonwealth ICT Ministers Forum 2016, held this week in London.
