Newwaves Ecosystem Ltd., a Nigerian tech company behind the video conferencing platform Konn3ct has announced a strategic partnership with Dannon Canada Investment and Management Inc. scheduled to be formally signed July 10.

Flowing from the proposed agreement, Dannon Canada aims to bring Konn3ct, Nigeria and Africa’s first homegrown online meeting solution to the Canadian market.

According to a statement made available to Technology Times, Dannon Canada will “promote and support KONN3CT online meeting services in Canada.” The official signing ceremony will be held on July 10th, 2024, at 3:00 PM Nigerian Time.

What is Konn3ct?

Launched in April 2021, Konn3ct emerged as a response to the growing demand for secure and user-friendly online communication solutions, particularly during the global shift to remote work due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to its maker, Newwaves Ecosystem Ltd.

Konn3ct has some unique features which set it apart from established players like Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. These, according to its developer, features include functionalities like hosting multiple meetings simultaneously, facilitating live streaming to social media platforms, and enabling payments in local currencies – a feature which would be attractive to international users. Additionally, Konn3ct also has the eCinema feature which allows users to “stream movies and host virtual movie nights.”

According to New Waves Ecosystem, the upcoming Konn3ctAI (Version 4) will integrate AI tools for real-time translation, transcription, and making meeting summaries. Additionally, Konn3ctAI will introduce a donations feature during meetings, potentially making it easier for fundraising events and virtual conferences.

The platform has garnered awards such as the Best Emerging ICT Platform Award in 2021 by the National Association of Computer Science Students (NACOS) and the Most Innovative ICT Platform Award in 2023 by Titans of Tech. Newwaves Ecosystem Ltd. itself was nominated for Best ICT Company in Nigeria during the 2022 Nigerian Merit Award event, the technology company said.

This partnership with Dannon Canada is Konn3ct’s way of entering the international market. By entering the Canadian market, Newwaves Ecosystem Ltd. aims to introduce Konn3ct’s feature set and competitive pricing to a wider user base beyond the local market.
