The Dental Technologists Registration Board of Nigeria (DTRBN) says it is adopting advanced digital systems to strengthen regulatory enforcement, eliminate quackery, and improve professional oversight nationwide.
Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, announced the directive at the maiden Dental Technologists Summit 2025 in Abuja, themed “Dental Technologists, Past, Present and Future”.
He tasks the Board with embracing technology-driven reforms for proper indexing, registration, and annual renewal of practitioners through secure digital platforms.

“Be forthcoming in your regulatory responsibilities. Quacks must not be given room to operate anywhere in Nigeria,” Salako says.
The Minister describes dental technologists as indispensable to Nigeria’s healthcare delivery system, citing their technical expertise in fabricating dental appliances. “Healthcare delivery is teamwork. Without your contribution, the core duty of the dental team to restore smiles, improve oral health and enhance overall well-being cannot be optimally delivered,” he adds.
In his welcome address, Mallam Idris Ahmad Bappah, Registrar of DTRBN, underscored the Board’s role in ensuring quality oral healthcare. “Dental technology is the aspect of dental healthcare delivery which deals with the art and science of designing, fabricating, and servicing dental, oral and oro-facial appliances (prostheses) for the replacement of missing parts of dental and oro-facial tissues,” he said.
The two-day summit brought together policymakers, researchers, and professionals to chart the future of the profession, with the Federal Ministry of Health pledging continued support for innovation and excellence in oral health services.
