The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Office of the Head of Civil Service, have announced a Digital Literacy Training programme to equip 69,000 federal civil servants with essential IT skills.

“The programme will train 69,000 federal civil servants under the Head of Service on a weekly basis, which will cover the entire workforce in nine months,” the IT agency states.
According to NITDA, the three-day workshop, held at the e-Government Training Centre, Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), is part of efforts to enhance human capital development in the digital economy and strengthen Nigeria’s position as a global technology hub.
“The programme will train 69,000 federal civil servants under the Head of Service on a weekly basis, which will cover the entire workforce in nine months,” the IT agency states.
Kashifu Inuwa, Director General of NITDA, says the programme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and the goal of achieving 70% digital literacy in Nigeria by 2027. He underscores the importance of digital literacy in transforming governance, fostering innovation, and driving inclusive economic growth.
Inuwa says the programme underscores NITDA’s commitment to empowering public sector employees to implement digital solutions that enhance governance and improve service delivery.
By equipping civil servants with advanced digital skills, he says the initiative aims to modernise public administration and accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation journey.
