Facebook says non-profit organisations fighting Ebola will use its social media platform to raise funds from donations to fight the deadly virus.

According to the social media company, organisations involved in the fight against Ebola are using Facebook to raise funds for their relief efforts.

“Over the next week, people on Facebook will see a message at the top of News Feed with an option to donate to three different nonprofits doing important work on the ground in West Africa: International Medical Corps, the Red Cross and Save the Children.

To do this, we are using our Donate feature, where people can donate directly to one of these three organisations. If they want to, people can also choose to share that they donated on Facebook.”

Facebook also noted that all funds raised will go directly to the charities working in the Ebola-affected countries.
