Lagos. February 16, 2013: Myfreecoursesonline says a much anticipated event whereby it will give away 100 iPads to users participating in its user review of the most popular universities around the world has flagged off.
The SiteTrail owned education portal says that the programme will also feature rating of the most popular free courses provided by the popular universities such as MIT, Berkeley and Harvard on their own websites.
The company says that since the launch of the popular course portal, users have access to thousands of courses from a variety of third party providers.
“Now the education website has sought to distinguish the most popular courses and universities according to public opinion. New users would like to know why a particular University or course is at the top of its league, they also want to know what experiences and benefits other users had and this is why student feedback can make the difference”, the company adds.
The company says that new data emerging out of a survey amongst users have already been used by Myfreecoursesonline to ascertain that the third party content of MIT open courseware are the most popular because it has recorded sessions that users can access via iPads and other devices in the form of a podcast to use on the go. As more survey’s are initiated, users are helping the web rate the most useful content for education and to share such data and opinions around the world.
“It also transpired that only around 70% of users are actually using the site to take a new course, whereas the majority of other users are already enrolled at worldwide institutions — however to enrich their learning experience, they seek more content from other top education providers. A student enrolled in Nigeria, Brazil or Singapore can indeed watch live training sessions from London School of Economics, Harvard or MIT to add to the learning experience.”
The Editor at SiteTrail adds that, “We see community driven news and opinion as being highly persuasive in the decision making process of users around the web. By giving away free iPad’s to the best contributors, we hope to engage enough users to provide accurate community opinion based on user experience whilst at the same time helping more people to access online learning.”
