The Enugu State Government in partnership with the UK Government, says it has provided digital access training to over 500 civil servants as part of its efforts to transition from manual operations to e-governance.
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State disclosed this during during a working visit to the Government House Enugu by Ms. Gill Lever, British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria.
The digital access training programme, a collaboration between the Enugu SME Centre, the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), and Tech4Dev, aims to equip public servants with essential digital skills to enhance efficiency and accountability, according to the state government.

Governor Mbah: We want to ensure Enugu State civil servants are digitally-compliant
Speaking during the visit, Governor Mbah thanked the UK Government for all the support being accorded to his administration, especially in its effort to migrate to e-governance. “We are grateful,” Governor Mbah says, “because this is essentially coming at a time when we are thinking about how we’re going to make sure that all our civil servants are digitally-compliant and they all are able to seamlessly use the portal.”
Governor Mbah also spoke of the economic importance of the transition saying it would “enhance the quality of services provided to the people of Enugu State” and also make the state become “more accountable to the people” due to accurate capture of revenue.
Ms. Lever, praised the Governor’s commitment to innovation in governance. “ I think he is doing an excellent job in serving the state very well. We are very pleased to be partnering with the governor. We are looking for opportunities in mutual growth. We support his programmes.”
She also pledged her the UK Government’s commitment to building the human capital of the Enugu State Civil Service in line with Governor Mbah’s effort to transition the state’s bureaucracy from manual to e-governance.
The highpoint of the visit was the presentation of Certificates of Completion to participants of the second edition of the Enugu Digital Literacy Skills Training Programme.
