Enugu State says it expects to earn about ₦300 billion from land administration modernisation with the launch of the Enugu State Geographic Information System (ENGIS).
This new digital platform allows residents and investors to process land title applications entirely online within 48 hours, says the State Government, which promises that ENGIS is also expected to end land grabbing across the state.

Speaking at the official commissioning, Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu State, emphasised that this initiative is part of its broader commitment to transparency, efficiency, and economic growth.
From the comfort of their home, users can now process titles, conduct searches, and access results seamlessly. “This landmark achievement is in the quest to modernise and sanitise land administration and management in our state,” Governor Mbah says.

The platform is also designed to attract investors by making land transactions more reliable and efficient, contributing to Enugu’s push to lead the nation in Ease of Doing Business rankings. “This system is a game-changer for investors, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and reliability,” the governor adds.
While commending the team that digitised decades-old land documents, Governor Mbah explained the impact of ENGIS as it is expected to significantly boost Enugu State’s economic performance. He noted that the system would contribute an estimated ₦300 billion annually to the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), helping achieve the ambitious goal of raising Enugu’s GDP from $4.4 billion to $30 billion in the next four to eight years.
The initiative has garnered support from various stakeholders, including the Enugu State House of Assembly, traditional rulers, and professional bodies, who have praised the government’s digital transformation efforts.
“Enugu State is open for business,” Governor Mbah says, promising to invest heavily in digital governance and make Enugu the leader in ease of doing business is becoming a reality.
