Entries open for Etisalat Prize for Literature 2014

Etisalat Nigeria has announced that entries have opened for Africa fiction writers who are willing to contest for the 2014 editionĀ  of the creative literature prize award.

The contest which holds later this year will see different writers whose works have been published in the last 24 months contest for the grand prize of £15,000 and other interesting prizes.

According to the telecoms company, the Etisalat Prize for Literature is the first pan-African Literary Award to celebrate African fiction writers and seeks to recognise, celebrate and reward dƩbut fiction writers of African descent whose works are outstanding.

Matthew Willsher, acting CEOĀ of Etisalat Nigeria said that, ā€œthe Etisalat Prize for Literature serves as a platform for the discovery of new creative writing talent out of the African continent and is the first prize with the novel concept of also promoting the growing publishing industry in Africa. The winner receives a cash prize of Ā£15,000 in addition to a fellowship at the prestigious University of East Anglia. The winner and shortlisted writers receive a sponsored two city tour promoting their books.ā€

Interested contestant should send their entries on or before 8th of August 2014, the company said.
