Enugu State Government says is set to kick off Phase II of its Enugu Digital Skills Training (EDST) programme that will equip civil servants with essential digital skills.
The initiative, a collaboration between the Enugu State Government, Capitis Global, and the Enugu SME Center, aims to further enhance the digital capacity of the state’s civil service.
It also builds on the success of its inaugural Digital Skills Nigeria (DSN) programme that equally equipped civil servants with essential digital skills, according to the Enugu State Government.
Phase II of the EDST programme will offer two specialised training tracks: Digital Literacy Essentials and Microsoft Excel. According to the Enugu State SME Centre, the programme is entirely free for selected civil servants, particularly those working in key government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
The training emphasises practical application, with a focus on real-world scenarios relevant to government work. According to the Enugu State Government, “the programme trains participants to handle e-government systems, boosts the digital skills of civil servants for today’s workplace, and aids in modernising government services. It aims to enhance digital proficiency, work efficiency, and responsible use of government digital resources.”
Training Details
The programme will be delivered in person (instructor-led) to facilitate direct interaction and personalised support for participants. The duration varies depending on the chosen track:
- Digital Literacy Essentials: 5 days (Friday-Tuesday), with 3-4 hour sessions per day.
- Microsoft Excel Training: 14 days.
To participate, according to the programme organisers, civil servants should possess basic English proficiency, demonstrate commitment to the training, and have access to a computer. For the Microsoft Excel track, a basic understanding of Excel is recommended. All participants will undergo a mandatory assessment test to gauge their digital literacy level before commencing the programme. Successful completion of the training and assessments will lead to a programme certification.
