Etisalat awarded ‘youth empowerment telecoms operator’ of 2014

Etisalat Nigeria has won the “Youth Empowerment Telecoms Operator of the Year” at the 10th Nigerian Telecoms Awards.

The 4th largest telecoms operator also claimed the “Best Brand Campaign,” while Hakeem Bello-Osagie, the chairman of the company won the “Telecom Entrepreneur of the Year” award.

Chineze Amanfo, Public Relations Manager, Etisalat Nigeria, described the awards as a clear confirmation of Etisalat’s commitment to innovation and corporate excellence.

“Since our entry into the Nigerian market in 2008, we have continuously delivered e top quality products and services promised to our customers. Our subscriber base in this highly competitive industry now exceeds 19 million,” Amanfo said.

She further explained that creativity is important in almost every decision taken at the organization. “At Etisalat we believe in doing things differently and we are proud of it. We are driven by a desire to add value to the lives of our customers and to build a reliable network” she said.

Etisalat won the “Best Brand Campaign” award for the EasyFlex commercial, while the success of the music reality television show, Nigerian Idol, earned the company the “Youth Empowerment Telecom Operator of the Year” award. The “Telecom Entrepreneur of the Year” award was presented to the Chairman, Etisalat Nigeria, Hakeem Bello-Osagie, in recognition of his role in bringing the UAE telecommunications firm to Nigeria and keeping it afloat for close to six years amidst stiff competition.
