The Federal Government of Nigeria is building a state-of-the-art data centre capable of storing up to 1.4 petabytes of data slated for completion by May 29.

This announcement was made by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, during a meeting with the delegation of the National Union of Nigerian Associations in Italy (NUNAI), led by its President, Chief Rowland Ndukuba, at his office in Abuja on Monday.

This new facility, Tunji-Ojo said, is designed to house a wide range of critical national information including citizens’ bio-data will also enhance the nation’s data management infrastructure.

Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of embracing technology and innovation, noting that contemporary challenges necessitate novel, cutting-edge technological solutions. He stated that integrating advanced technology would significantly enhance efficiency and accountability in national operations.

“Furthermore, the Minister made it clear that the federal government would not condone mega migration and that Nigerians attempting to emigrate through unlawful means will face the consequences of their actions,” according to a statement by the Ministry.

Tunji-Ojo also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the well-being of Nigerians abroad. He assured the NUNAI delegation that the Ministry of Interior would explore collaborative efforts with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support Nigerians stranded abroad.

Chief Rowland Ndukuba, President of NUNAI, expressed gratitude for the Ministry’s efforts in addressing the challenges faced by Nigerians in Italy. He urged continued collaboration to provide necessary assistance to Nigerians abroad.
