The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) says it is transitioning to full digital payments across all its revenue points as part of a nationwide initiative tagged “Operation Go Cashless Across Nigerian Airports.”

The move, launched at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, marks a major step by FAAN to modernise airport operations, boost efficiency, and align Nigeria’s aviation sector with global cashless and digital transformation trends.

The digitalisation initiative, executed in partnership with Paystack, a leading electronic payment platform, will eliminate physical cash transactions across FAAN’s revenue channels, including airport access gates, as all payments move to secure, electronic systems.

The agency explains that the shift to digital payments will enhance accountability, reduce leakages, and provide passengers with a faster, safer, and more transparent payment experience.

According to FAAN, the initiative “is designed to modernise airport operations, boost efficiency, and align Nigeria’s aviation sector with global digital trends.”

“This initiative ensures seamless, tech-driven payment across all FAAN revenue points, enhancing accountability and service delivery,” FAAN says, adding that airport users can now enjoy smoother transactions and improved service efficiency.

To ensure a seamless transition, FAAN says trained brand ambassadors have been deployed at airport gates to assist passengers. Travellers can obtain a Go Cashless Card at designated access points or online via gocashless.faan.gov.ng.

The rollout, which began in Lagos and Abuja airports, will soon extend to other airports nationwide. FAAN is urging travellers, concessionaires, and other stakeholders to embrace the initiative as part of Nigeria’s broader journey toward smarter, technology-driven airport management.
