Facebook now has 1.65 billion monthly active users as at March 31, 2016, an increase of 15% year-over-year on the social media platform.
This is one of the highlights of the 2016 first quarter operational report of the social media giant. According to the report, daily active users were 1.09 billion on average for March 2016, an increase of 16% year-over-year. Mobile daily active users were 989 million on average for the period, an increase of 24% year-over-year. Furthermore, mobile monthly active users were 1.51 billion as of March 31, 2016, an increase of 21% year-over-year.
Announcing the first quarter results in a post, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook highlighted some of the achievements of the company in the last few months to include the launch Reactions, Live video roll out, building Messenger into a platform, shipment of Oculus Rift and connection of 25 million people to the Internet.
According Zuckerberg, “we just released our quarterly results and gave an update on our community’s progress to connect the world. Our community now has 1.65 billion people. In the last few months, we launched Reactions, rolled out Live video, built Messenger into a platform, shipped Oculus Rift and have now connected 25 million people to the internet. We’ve also worked day after day on lots of small improvements to make your experience better.”
