
MTN Nigeria, the biggest mobile phone company in Nigeria, has crossed the three million followers mark on Facebook, the largest social media platform in the country.
A Technology Times review shows that the Nigerian subsidiary of the South African company attained this feat over the last weekend, to retain its position as the most-liked mobile operator among Nigerian on Facebook, the top social media platform in the country.
On Facebook, MTN Nigeria is followed by Airtel Nigeria with 1.4 million followers. Etisalat Nigeria is occupying the third position with 1.2 million followers. Globacom Nigeria is fourth, with 969,000 followers.

Globacom, the number two by phone subscriber numbers, which accounts for 30.4 million live phones within the same period ranks fourth among Nigerian Facebook fans with 969,000 followers.
However, Airtel Nigeria, with the second largest base of Facebook fan base in Nigeria with 1.4 million followers is the real world number three mobile phone company by subscriber numbers within the same period with 29.5 million active lines.
Etisalat Nigeria, which occupies the third position with 1.2 million Nigeria Facebook followers is the fourth largest mobile phone company in Nigeria with over 22.5 million active lines within the same period.
Mobile phone companies are rising the crest of the social media wave by using Facebook to reach their subscribers and other online followers to share information about their products and services and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
