The Federal Government says that Nigeria is joining the ranks of countries equipped with the manpower to leverage surveillance technology for conducting 24/7 border security.
The Ministry of Interior, says that the country is equipped with immigration officers capable of conducting 24/7 border surveillance through technological means.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, announced this during the induction of 123 pioneer officers into the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Command and Control Centre facility.
These officers are said to have successfully completed extensive training on integrating state-of-the-art technologies to secure Nigeria’s borders.

“Our nation’s border security, border governance, and border control capabilities have just gotten better,” the Minister stated.
“Through leveraging cutting-edge technology and strategic partnerships, our government, under the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remains committed to safeguarding Nigeria’s borders,” he added, assuring Nigerians of the current administration’s commitment towards ensuring adequate security across all borders in the country.
The Minister emphasised that the newly-inducted officers are fully equipped with the skills and expertise they need. He also noted that the state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre facility, needed for the officers to perform their tasks effectively is now completed.
According to Tunji-Ojo, “We, Nigeria, join an elite list of countries whose immigration officers can conduct 24/7 monitoring with real-time surveillance of the land, maritime, and air borders.”
He went on to stress the importance of having this technology in the Nigerian Immigration Service, explaining that it provides the country with global integration that will enable seamless collaboration with Interpol and other international security agencies.
The Interior Minister commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for its achievements in protecting the nation’s borders, expressing his hope that all agencies under the Ministry of Interior will reach greater heights under his leadership.
