The Federal Government is calling on Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to accelerate digital transformation efforts to enhance innovation, operational efficiency, and public service delivery across Nigeria.
Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Interior Minister, said this during a high-level retreat hosted in Abuja by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), which is bringing together key public sector leaders to shape a new era of digitally-empowered governance.
“Technology must be seen as a catalyst — capable of enhancing processes in the context of global service delivery,” Tunji-Ojo says in his keynote address, “Leveraging Technology to Transform Service Delivery.”

The Minister wants public institutions to stop viewing digital tools as add-ons and start leveraging them as strategic assets to redesign how services are being conceived, developed, and delivered to Nigerians.
Key highlights from the PEBEC retreat:
- Federal Government is urging digital transformation across all MDAs to improve public service delivery.
- Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo says technology should be viewed as an enabler of innovation and efficiency.
- The call is aligning with President Tinubu’s RenewedHope Agenda.
- The forum is bringing together heads of MDAs and public sector leaders to promote inter-agency collaboration and digital adoption.
- PEBEC is positioning the retreat as a baseline for systemic public sector reform.
Tunji-Ojo applauds the organisers of the retreat, particularly Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, Director General of PEBEC, and her team, describing their efforts as timely in repositioning MDAs for a digitally-driven future.
“I want to commend the DG of Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, and her team for their foresight, and do hope that the event will serve as a baseline for development of all agencies across the country with far-reaching results for the general public,” the Minister says.
The gathering is also hosting Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and other top-level public officials, with discussions focusing on how to integrate digital solutions into everyday government operations to streamline regulatory processes and support the Federal Government’s ease of doing business reforms.
The Minister is linking this digital transformation agenda to the broader vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing it as a “collective mandate to serve” under the RenewedHope leadership platform.
“In the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, leadership is about responsibility, and we must constantly remind ourselves as leaders of our oath of office, our mandate upon appointment, and our vision to lead the country to prosperity,” Tunji-Ojo says.
Organisers say that the retreat is serving as a rallying point for aligning Nigeria’s public sector with global best practices in e-governance, and is expected to catalyse strategic reforms across MDAs, with technology playing a pivotal role in Nigeria’s governance evolution.
