Mary Uduma, the President of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has said that over 40,000 email accounts have been created on the DotNG, the country Internet domain name for government officials to enable them carry out secure official communication.
According to her, while government has also adopted a policy that all Federal Government websites must be on the country’s Internet domain name, government officials across Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have also have email addresses created for them in furtherance of the directive.
Uduma dropped this hint at the Annual General Meeting of NiRA held recently in Lagos and also indicated that plans are ongoing by the group, which manages the country’s Internet name to promote uptakes across various sectors of the economy.
According to her, “40,000 .gov.ng email accounts have been created for all principal officers, permanent secretaries, heads of paratstatals, directors and other management staff of various MDAs and new easy-to-remember domain names are being created.
This will allow affairs of the site to be run more securely within the national domain space, Uduma added.
